A growing number of pipeline drugs for treating thrombosis and wounds is augmenting the growth of the plasminogen activator inhibitor market. For example, Denver Health and Hospital Authority are undergoing a clinical phase II study for treating thromboembolism and wounds by aspirin and rosuvastatin. It prevents the blood from clotting and also helps in maintaining the integrity of the artery walls. Studies have shown that plasminogens are produced rapidly in the fetus' umbilical cord and plasminogen-E2 in the placenta. In the absence of plasminogen, the placenta does not secrete plasminogens and the placenta and mother do not produce any uterine blood.
