Krill oil is POSSIBLY safe for all adults when used properly for a limited amount of time (less than three months). However, research on krill oil hasn't thoroughly tested its safety or possible adverse effects on the user. However, it's probably safe enough to worry about for the parents of little ones who've ingested it. Krill oil could likely cause some uncomfortable side effects such as diarrhea, bad breath, fishy taste in the mouth, stomach upset, and even loose stools.


Krill oil is particularly beneficial for people with low blood pressure, diabetes, and rheumatoid arthritis. Its fatty acid content helps regulate the release and utilization of energy, lowering blood pressure and reducing the risk for heart disease and stroke. It also helps increase muscle strength and muscle-building hormone production. Due to its ability to generate omega-3 fatty acids and its ability to reduce triglyceride levels, scientists have considered the oil to be a useful addition to a healthy diet, especially for people at risk for heart disease and other ailments.


Research has shown that Krill Oil contains fatty acids similar to those found in walnuts. These fatty acids reduce cholesterol levels, which can reduce the buildup of plaque in arteries and reduce swelling and pain, which can lead to pain management and the prevention of certain diseases. Other studies have shown that Krill Oil contains medium-chain triglycerides (MCT), which are similar to those found in corn or soybeans although not found in large quantities in meat and poultry. In one study, MCTs were identified as having six times the concentration of EPA in comparison to non-nutritious foods, which suggests the importance of this nutrient in reducing the risk of heart disease and cancer.
