Automotive Interior Materials have changed over the years with extensive applications of artificial leather, polymers, vinyl, and more

Automotive Interior Materials Market

Automotive interior materials come in many different forms, colors, and materials. The automotive interior materials commonly used in the manufacturing of automotive interior parts are plastics, vinyl, leather, synthetic fabrics, sheet metal, plastic, fiberglass, and aluminum. In addition, there are a few more specialized types of materials. They are commonly used in car parts production such as bumpers, clutches, roll cages, door surrounds, dashboard covers, headliners, seat covers, floor mats, and carpet runners. They can also be used for floor mats, carpet runners, and truck floor covers.

Another popular automotive interior material is vinyl. Vinyl continues to be quite popular and is expected to rise in popularity as electric vehicles (EVs) become more popular and catch up to traditional gasoline-powered vehicles. However, since electric vehicles do not have an internal combustion engine, they tend to be less resistant to damage from sunlight, dust, and rain compared to gasoline-powered vehicles. In fact, the rising popularity of electric and hybrid vehicles could cause the demand for replacement automotive interior materials to increase significantly over the next few years. Recently, in December 2018, Continental AG, a Germany-based automotive parts manufacturing company, announced to commence production of premium automotive interior surfaces in India in 2020.
