A motor vehicle sensor is a computerized device that monitors the physical condition of an automobile and automatically sends out information to the driver to let him know if changes should be made to the system. Automobile sensors have been so intelligent that they take a wide range of parameters into account, analyze them, and finally decide the most appropriate condition for continued driving.
There are different types of motor vehicle sensors used in modern day automobiles. The first one is the engine temperature sensor. This sensor informs the driver of the engine's temperature so that he can make the necessary adjustments to his driving habits. Generally, this sensor is used in the engine compartment, but sometimes it is also found attached to the engine block, and then referred to as an accessory sensor. There are other places where this kind of car sensors are used, but the primary place to install this sensor is in the engine compartment.
Other important motor vehicle sensors in use today are the sensing oil pressure and the tire pressure. These two automotive sensors are installed in different areas of the automobile so that they can constantly monitor the state of the automobiles' engines. The sensing oil pressure gage tells the driver when the oil pressure drops because of improper driving techniques. On the other hand, the tire pressure gage monitors the condition and level of the tires. If one of these two automobile sensors malfunctions, it could significantly affect the functioning of the other one... Read more
